Peace River Honey (Wolfe Honey Ltd.)
Peace River Honey is the brand of Wolfe Honey Ltd., a family apiary in Guy, in Alberta's Peace River country. Gilbert Wolfe fell for bees as a boy in northern Alberta; at sixteen he talked his father into buying him fifty hives and extracted his first crop in an old granary. With his wife Sharon he grew that into what the family calls Canada's largest organic apiary — Gilbert travelled to Germany in 1996 to study certified-organic beekeeping, earned organic certification that year, and in 2016 became the first apiary in Canada verified as non-GMO. The business is now led by Gilbert's son Brett alongside his sisters Taylor and Paige, with a 40,000-plus-square-foot facility and a team of beekeepers producing honey entirely from the Peace River region.
